The Château de Fontainebleau is staging the second edition of Grandeur Nature, a contemporary art walk through the gardens, this year invoking "The Spirit of the Forest". You'll be able to discover over 40 works by contemporary artists, created by 25 artists chosen for their original relationship with nature, which will sublimate the beauty of the National Estate.
True tributes to nature, Wang Keping's La Frénésie des Géants on the Grand Parterre, and Découverte on Place Napoléon, Françoise Petrovitch's Sentinelle, Philippe Ramette's original installations and the mythological creatures of Marina Le Gall, Kim Dacres, Max Coulon and Jean-Marie Appriou, among others, will summon the spirit of the forest for a fertile and original dialogue. The four works on loan from exhibition partner Centre national des arts plastiques (CNAP) also resonate with this theme. All the spaces invested by the artists, on a journey from the city to the forest, will exude a playful, phantasmagorical or poetic atmosphere.
The curious and the passionate will be invited to discover a performance by Wang Keping in the gardens during the month of June, during which the artist will create four sculptures using a beech tree uprooted by bad weather in the park of the Château de Fontainebleau.
Join us on June 6, 7, 8 and 9, June 13, 14 and 15 and June 19, 20 and 21, 2025.
Curated by Muriel Barbier, Director of Heritage and Collections, and Jean-Marc Dimanche, Exhibition Curator.
